Beginning Tuesday, September 16, Ghanaian transport unions intend to cease operations in Accra, the country’s capital.

They plan to protest a private developer’s decision to kick out drivers from the Central Business District CMB.

The city’s commuters are probably going to be inconvenienced by this choice.

The unions will not stop protesting until their problems are addressed, and they are calling on authorities to act immediately to address their concerns.

Drivers have been affected by the eviction, and trading has stopped, leaving many without income.
Traders and unions say they have used the land for decades, but developers have gradually claimed parts of it, limiting the space they have left.

To deliver a petition to President John Dramani Mahama, the union leaders say they will march to the Jubilee House.

In support of the protest, they have announced that all drivers will stop working, particularly those who serve the core business district.

The Chairperson of the Container Owners Association has stated that they have had enough and will not allow anyone to take over their means of subsistence, demonstrating their resistance to the most recent takeover.
