The Civil Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has announced plans for a nationwide strike on Thursday, February 20, 2025, in protest against the continued tenure of Samuel Adom Botchway as head of the Births and Deaths Registry.
The association says the strike is necessary after government assurances that Mr Botchway would be removed from office have not been fulfilled.
They argue that his presence at the office’s budget hearing at the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs on Monday, February 17, 2025, confirms he remains in his position despite prior commitments to the contrary.
In a statement signed by Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe Addo, CLOGSAG reiterated its stance, stating that the strike would go ahead as planned unless their concerns were addressed.
