The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has declared a nationwide strike in protest of the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as the new Births and Deaths Registrar.
The decision was made following a meeting of CLOGSAG’s National Executive Council (NEC) on February 11, 2025, during which concerns were raised about the increasing appointment of politically exposed individuals to key positions within the Civil Service and local government structures.
CLOGSAG warned that it would take industrial action if Mr. Botchway proceeded with the role.
The strike will go ahead after his official assumption of office on February 12, 2025, with the association confirming that the strike will begin on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
The association has called on all members to remain at home from the start of the strike until further notice.
