The Boundary Chief of Odupong Traditional Area and Leader of Kwashi Abbey Family, Nai Atopi Kwashi Abbey VII, has emphasized the importance of traditional leaders understanding the laws of Ghana.
Speaking to a gathering of over 800 new lawyers called to the Ghana Bar, Chief Abbey stressed that knowing the law is crucial for effective leadership and protecting one’s community.
Nai Kwashi Abey described the law as the most powerful tool one can rely on.
He explained that as a chief, having knowledge of the law enables you to carry out your duties and exercise your powers without committing errors.
A chief who knows the law can protect their people and the land they rule over.
Knowing the law helps in settling boundary issues, understanding civil and criminal cases, and knowing when to step in or not. It keeps you on your toes and ensures you don’t engage in unlawful activities.
The traditional leader urged his fellow chiefs to pursue knowledge of the law to enhance their leadership skills and protect their communities. By doing so, they can effectively exercise their powers and promote justice and peace in their respective areas.
