The Ghana Football Association has appointed experienced Portuguese tactician Carlos Queiroz as the new head coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars.

In an official announcement shared via the team’s social media platforms, the FA confirmed that Queiroz will lead Ghana national football team into the 2026 FIFA World Cup, bringing with him decades of international coaching experience.

 

In a statement addressed to Ghanaians, Queiroz expressed gratitude for the opportunity, describing his appointment as both a responsibility and an honour.

He noted that football has given him “a lifetime of challenges, lessons, and unforgettable journeys,” and pledged to approach his new role with the same passion and commitment that has defined his career.

The former Iran, Colombia, and Egypt coach also praised Ghana’s rich football heritage, calling it “a nation of talent, pride, and footballing soul.” He emphasized unity, discipline, and ambition as key pillars for achieving success, adding that his mission is to meet the high expectations of Ghanaian supporters.
