Candidates who sat for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will now have the opportunity to confirm their school choices before final placement is announced, the Director General of the School Placement and Computerized System, Prof. Dennis Davies, has said.
Speaking at a press conference held by the Ministry of Education in Accra, Prof. Davies emphasized that the choice confirmation process begins Tuesday, August 27 and ends Sunday, September 1, 2025. The initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure accuracy and transparency in the 2025 placement exercise.
“Candidates can visit the official placement portal, [www.cssps.gov.gh](http://www.cssps.gov.gh), to verify and confirm their school choices, including correcting errors in gender, program selection, or school preference,” Prof. Davies announced.
He added that an explainer video will be provided to guide students and guardians through the process.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to a strictly merit-based system in placing candidates into various Senior High Schools (SHS), Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, and other public secondary programs.
Placement will be determined using candidates’ aggregate scores from six subjects — the four core subjects (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science, and Social Studies) and their two best electives.
“In the case of ties, raw scores will be used to determine final rankings,” the Director General explained, assuring parents and candidates that no one will be disadvantaged.
Prof. Davies issued a strong warning against fraud, saying the Ministry has zero tolerance for any form of bribery or extortion in the placement process.
“Placement is free. No payment is required. Anyone who demands money on behalf of the Ministry, GES, TVET, CSSPS, or FSHS is acting fraudulently and should be reported immediately to the police,” he stated.
The full schedule for the 2025 placement process includes:
August 23: BECE results released
August 27 – September 1: Choice confirmation period
September 15: Publication of placement results online
September 16: Activation of call and resolution centers
October 18 – 20: Reopening for first-year students
The Ministry called on candidates and families to remain calm and trust the process. “We are fully prepared to ensure a smooth and fair placement for all,” Prof. Davies concluded.
