Deputy Minister Of Defence, Ernest Brogya Gyamfi, has issued a stern warning to personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), stressing that the military high command will not shield any officer whose conduct undermines the integrity of the institution.
Speaking as Guest of Honour at the 2025 Land Combat Power Demonstration Exercise at the Battle Training Camp in Bundase, Mr. Gyamfi said recent incidents of misconduct by some officers threaten to erode public confidence in the Armed Forces.
“No soldier is above the law. Every officer must respect the rule of law and uphold the integrity of the service, whether on or off duty,” he stated.

His remarks follow public outrage over a recent assault at Burma Camp, where WOI William Mensah was captured on CCTV allegedly attacking a pharmacist and a female customer at a pharmacy within the military enclave. The female victim was later reported to be the daughter of a senior military officer, an incident that has reignited debate over military-civilian relations and the abuse of power by some personnel.
The Deputy Minister described such actions as unacceptable and warned that the military command will not condone indiscipline or any conduct that tarnishes the image of the Armed Forces.
“The Ghana Armed Forces have a proud legacy of professionalism and honour. The Command will not protect anyone whose actions bring the military’s name into disrepute,” he cautioned.
The Land Combat Power Demonstration Exercise, held annually, forms part of efforts to assess the operational readiness of the Army and showcase its capabilities in defending the nation’s territorial integrity.
Mr. Gyamfi urged personnel to maintain the highest standards of discipline and professionalism, noting that their behaviour both in and out of uniform reflects on the reputation of the service.
