President John Dramani Mahama has named Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono as the Acting Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).
A seasoned military officer and legal professional, Brigadier General Tanye-Kulono currently serves as the Deputy Commandant of the National College of Defence Studies (NCDS) in Accra. His appointment to lead GPHA is expected to bring significant strategic oversight, drawing on his diverse experience in both military leadership and legal affairs.
Tanye-Kulono holds advanced degrees in law, management, and international affairs, including a Master of Laws (LLM) in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution from the George Washington School of Law, a Master in Management Studies from Osmania University, and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from the University of Ghana. He was called to the Ghanaian Bar in 2015.
His professional background includes elite military training from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the U.S. Army Command and Staff College, and the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre. Tanye-Kulono has held prominent leadership roles within the Ghanaian military, including Chief Coordinator at NCDS, Assistant Commandant at the Training and Doctrine Command, and Deputy Director-General of Training at GHQ.
Notably, he has also contributed to international peacekeeping efforts, having served as Deputy Force Provost Marshal and Officer in Charge of Special Investigations at the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
With his expertise in counterterrorism, strategic defense management, and operational training, Tanye-Kulono is well-positioned to provide the GPHA with robust leadership during his tenure.
