The Office of the Special Prosecutor has declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a wanted fugitive.

At a press conference on Wednesday, 12 February 2025, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng said the cousin of former president Nana Akufo-Addo is wanted in connection with four matters – Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML), National Cathedral and two others which he did not publicly disclose.

Mr Agyebeng advised the former finance minister to return to Ghana immediately to answer multiple corruption allegations relating to those four subjects.

The Special Prosecutor said failure to do so would compel the state to institute measures to force his return.

“OSP declares Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori Atta a wanted fugitive. Mr Ofori Atta, you have two choices: you can return to the jurisdiction voluntarily or face the consequences,” Mr Agyebeng warned.

Mr Agyebeng also discredited reports that his office raided the former minister’s Cantonments residence on Tuesday, 11 February 2025.

According to him, Mr Ofori-Atta staged the alleged raid to court disaffection against the OSP and its investigations.
