The tragic incident has cast a dark shadow over the league, with many calling for stronger action against violence in football. Bechem United's reward offers hope that justice may soon be served, as football fans continue to mourn the loss of one of their own.

Ghana Premier League club Bechem United has announced a GH¢100,000 bounty for anyone with information leading to the capture of the person responsible for the tragic death of Kotoko fan Francis Yaw Frimpong, widely known as Nana Pooley.

The club’s announcement comes as part of their ongoing efforts to tackle hooliganism in Ghanaian football. Bechem United is urging the public to come forward with credible information about the killer after Pooley was fatally stabbed during a match-related incident.

In a statement, Bechem United explained that the decision to offer the large reward was made necessary by growing concerns for the safety of their staff, particularly their team doctor, Dr Achau, who has reportedly been under pressure from his family to avoid travelling for away games due to security fears.

Following recent court proceedings, Asante Kotoko’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, confirmed that police have identified a suspect in the case a man named Brimah, who is still at large.

Mr Duku stated that all accused individuals in the case have confirmed Brimah as the person who stabbed Pooley.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko, whose fans and staff are still processing the tragedy, resumed training on Wednesday, February 19, but emphasized that they would not participate in any competitive matches until adequate security measures are in place to ensure the safety of players and officials.
