Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, begin a nationwide campaign tour across all 276 constituencies, officially launching his bid to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2028 general elections.

According to a statement signed by the Communications Director of the Bawumia Campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the tour is designed to engage the party’s grassroots, including polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, constituency officers, former MPs, former MMDCEs, patrons, and members of the council of elders.

The campaign described the move as part of Dr. Bawumia’s “commitment to listening, building consensus, and strengthening the party’s foundation from the ground up.”

“Dr. Bawumia looks forward to sharing his vision and collectively working towards a resounding victory for the NPP in the 2028 general elections,” the statement read.

Campaign Calls for Decency and Issue-Based Debate

In a related development, the campaign has issued a strong internal directive cautioning supporters, communicators, and volunteers to immediately desist from personal attacks, insults, or derogatory remarks targeted at other aspirants and their supporters.

The statement expressed concern that political exchanges in recent weeks have “devolved into personal insults and unsubstantiated attacks,” a trend it described as contrary to the NPP’s core values of unity, respect, and decency.

“We must immediately cease and desist from any form of direct or indirect insults, derogatory remarks, and personal attacks against any other aspirant, their families, or their supporters,” it said.

The campaign urged that all communications be “grounded in verifiable facts, comparative analysis of ideas, and the substantive track records of all involved.”

Mr. Aboagye noted that the Bawumia campaign remains confident that when the conversation focuses on issues, Dr. Bawumia’s qualifications, experience, and transformative ideas will resonate decisively with party delegates.

“We must campaign as one united family, poised for victory,” the release concluded.

Dr. Bawumia’s campaign kickoff comes amid growing anticipation within the ruling NPP as the party prepares for a competitive flagbearer contest in early 2026.
