Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister, has inaugurated a seven-member board to oversee the management of Kumasi City Market Limited, popularly known as Kejetia Market.
The newly constituted board is tasked with ensuring the effective, transparent, and prudent management of the market facility, which serves as the largest trading hub in the Ashanti Region and one of the biggest open markets in West Africa.
The board is chaired by the Richard Ofori Boadi, Mayor of Kumasi, with Oheneba Owusu Afriyie, representing the Manhyia Palace, serving as Vice Chairperson.
Board Composition
Other members of the board include:
-Nana Evelyn Serwaa Boadu, representing Central Market Traders
-Bentronics Agro Chemicals CEO, representing Kejetia Traders
-Osman Samaa, representing the Local Government Ministry
-Anthony Gyazra, representing the Ministry of Finance
-Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) representative
-Patrick Adu, serving as Secretary to the Board
Dr. Amoakohene officially swore in the board on Monday, February 16, 2026, and charged members to prioritise the smooth and efficient operation of the market for the benefit of traders and the wider Kumasi business community.
“You are there to ensure that the market functions well. Be circumspect in how you manage information, work diligently, and ensure that traders derive maximum benefit from the facility,” he advised.
The Regional Minister pledged his office’s full support to the board, encouraging members to seek assistance whenever necessary to ensure success in their mandate.
Board Chair’s Assurance
In his remarks, Board Chair Richard Ofori Boadi expressed gratitude to the Regional Minister for the confidence reposed in the board and assured stakeholders of the board’s commitment to effective governance.
He pledged that the board would operate strictly within its mandate and work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure the proper and sustainable management of Kejetia Market.
