Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, called for a deeper partnership between Ghana’s traditional authorities and the national police, urging a shift toward intelligence-driven community policing.

“I have come to join you [IGP] for deeper institutionalised collaboration between traditional authorities and the Ghana Police Service. Let chiefs serve as allies in community policing. Let officers be trained to understand the customs of the people they protect,” he said.

The monarch made the remarks during his historic visit to the Police Headquarters, where he underscored dialogue and mediation as essential tools for law enforcement in diverse communities. “Let dialogue proceed deployment and mediation proceed confrontation. This is not softness but intelligence,” he added.

The event drew stakeholders from across the state, including representatives of the chieftaincy, security agencies, and corporate Ghana.
