The club reiterated that they will not participate in any official matches until decisive actions are taken to ensure justice and safeguard the future of the game.

Asante Kotoko’s first team will resume training on Wednesday, February 19, following a temporary suspension of all football-related activities after the tragic death of fan Francis ‘Nana Pooley’ Frimpong.

The club had paused operations after the fan’s death in Nsoatre during the Porcupine Warriors’ Ghana Premier League match against Nsoatreman.

The decision to restart training comes after consultations with the club’s medical department, which advised the resumption to ensure the physical and mental well-being of the players.

A statement from the club’s management read: “While the pain of recent events still lingers, we recognize the need to maintain the fitness and sharpness of our squad as we continue to demand accountability for the heinous acts committed against our club and our supporters.”

However, Kotoko made it clear that the decision to return to training does not signal a change in their position on official competitions.

In addition, Kotoko observed a one-week memorial for Pooley at the Baba Yara Stadium last weekend, honouring the fan’s memory.
