Former NPP Communications Director, Yaw Adomako Baafi, has criticized the recent arrests of Freelance Journalist and social activist, Sir Obama Pokuase and comedians Fante Comedy and AY.

He believes these arrests are meant to distract the public from the tragic military helicopter crash that killed several officers in the Northern Region.

Speaking on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with Akosua Agyewaa High Tension, Adomako Baafi, said the government is using these arrests to shift attention away from questions about the crash.

“People are starting to talk about the real cause, so they are trying to silence them,” he said.

Sir Obama was arrested by National Security at dawn, though no official reason has been given. Fante Comedy and AY were also picked up earlier for comments allegedly threatening the President. Some believe their social media posts are under investigation.

Yaw Baafi urged the government not to politicize national tragedies and questioned the timing of the arrests. He also accused authorities of “selective justice,” pointing out that opposition figures have said worse things without facing arrest.

He ended by calling for unity, respect for free speech, and prayers to prevent future tragedies.
