British boxing star Anthony Joshua has sustained minor injuries following a road traffic accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two people, according to local authorities.
Police officials confirmed that investigations into the incident have been launched. The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, acknowledged that the crash occurred and said the victims were rushed to hospital. Meanwhile, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Sagamu, Ode Fredrick, noted that officers were deployed to the scene to verify the casualties.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) later provided further details, reporting that five adult men were involved in the crash. According to the FRSC, two people died, two others escaped unhurt, while Anthony Joshua was rescued alive and taken to hospital for medical attention.
Preliminary findings by road safety officials indicate that the Lexus jeep involved in the accident may have been travelling above the legal speed limit. The vehicle reportedly lost control while attempting to overtake and subsequently collided with a stationary truck parked along the roadside.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the accident.
