In a bold move to reshape Ghana’s political landscape, Alan Kyerematen has officially launched the United Party (UP+), a new political force aimed at uniting Ghanaians across all backgrounds and fast-tracking the nation’s development.
Addressing supporters at the outdooring ceremony, Kyerematen said the new party would serve as a platform for inclusive governance, transparency, and a “zero-tolerance” approach to corruption.
“This is a new dawn for Ghana,” he said. “The United Party seeks to bring all Ghanaians together—regardless of age, ethnicity, religion or political affiliation—to build a peaceful, united, and prosperous nation.”
Kyerematen outlined UP+’s vision to make Ghana the economic powerhouse of Africa by 2040, a target branded as the “Paradise Project.” He emphasized the need for a united front, ethical leadership, discipline, and equal opportunity for all Ghanaians to reach their full potential.
He criticized the current political system for sidelining some of the nation’s best talents and promised to change the political culture. “Ghanaians are decent people. Politics must reflect that decency,” he added.
The party’s core values include promoting integrity, enforcing law and order, encouraging meritocracy, and fostering patriotism. UP+ also aims to restore discipline in public life and introduce respectful language in political discourse.
Kyerematen said UP+ would continue the work of the Movement for Change, noting its surprising impact in just nine months. “We had no money, yet people were fighting over our yellow T-shirts. That shows the movement had something powerful behind it,” he said.
The party retains the monarch butterfly as its symbol, representing transformation, resilience, and endurance.
As the 2028 election approaches, the formation of UP+ adds a new dimension to Ghana’s political future.
