Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has cautioned that the government will not tolerate any misuse of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium pitch ahead of Sarkodie’s much-awaited Rapperholic Concert on 27th September 2025.
Speaking on Asempa FM, he confirmed that permission had been granted for the stadium to host the event, but stressed that the grass field was strictly off-limits. He explained that the facility is being carefully maintained for upcoming national matches, adding that any destruction of the turf would attract sanctions.
In response, Ghana’s rap icon Sarkodie assured the NSA and stakeholders that his team is fully committed to protecting the pitch. He emphasized that his production plan had been designed to respect the rules in place. “The rules were set from the beginning, and we have no plans of breaking them,” he said.
Beyond easing the concerns of authorities, Sarkodie also turned to his fans with a promise of a spectacular show in Kumasi. He pledged an unforgettable experience, combining his trademark energy with top-tier stagecraft, all without putting the stadium’s playing surface at risk.
To underline his commitment, the rapper shared a short update on social media, revealing the planned layout of the stage and seating. Captioned, “Top priority… stage is nowhere close to pitch,” the post gave supporters a direct glimpse of how the concert will transform the venue while leaving the turf untouched.
While some supporters online have expressed excitement and satisfaction with the measures Sarkodie has put in place to stay within the rules, others remain unconvinced. A section of the public insists that the government should not permit the concert at the stadium at all. The debate continues to generate mixed reactions ahead of the event.
