Nkwanta North MP John Oti Kwabena Bless has accused Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin of instigating the chaos that erupted during the controversial vetting session on Thursday, January 30.

Mr Oti Bless claimed that Afenyo-Markin deliberately stood by as his fellow party members engaged in violent actions, leading to the destruction of public property.

“A leader who watches his members vandalise and destroy public property without stepping in is just as guilty as those involved,” he said.

The MP also alleged that multiple pleas from fellow Minority members, including Dr Afriyie, the Minority Chief Whip, and Frank Annoh-Dompreh, to allow health minister nominee Kwabena Mintah Akandoh to be vetted were ignored by Afenyo-Markin.

According to him, both Dr Afriyie and Annoh-Dompreh had approached the Minority Leader, urging him to proceed with the vetting, but he rejected the requests, saying, “Whatever will happen, should happen.”

Oti Bless argued that in Parliament, members follow the lead of their leadership, and Afenyo-Markin’s refusal to act directly contributed to the unrest.

“What I saw was that the Minority Leader instigated his people to misbehave,” he added.
