On a day filled with love, romance, and grand gestures, Prophetess Aku Xornam Kevi, Senior Pastor of Glorious Abundant Ministries International, has shared a heartfelt message on Bullet TV’s Morning Target show, reminding couples that there is no such thing as a perfect relationship—only a healthy one.
Speaking to Seli Acolatse Apaloo who co-hosts the show with Nana Kweku Aduah, Prophetess Kevi reflected on the expectations and realities of love and marriage.
“I don’t think there is anything like a perfect relationship. Every relationship is a work in progress,” she said on the Valentine’s Day edition of the show, emphasising that perfection in relationships is often an illusion.
“Maybe we’ll attain perfection when we go to heaven, but until then, a healthy relationship is better than a perfect one.”
She cautioned against comparing one’s relationship to others, especially those that appear flawless on social media.
“If a relationship looks perfect, then it means that they are probably pretending,” she explained. “Don’t be deceived by a perfect relationship—one that wants everybody to think that everything is fine, our kids are fine, we look good. Don’t be deceived by Facebook.”
Prophetess Kevi’s message served as a gentle reminder that every relationship has its strengths and weaknesses. “There are a lot of times that everything looks good, but before you know it, that relationship has crashed,” she noted. “A relationship that doesn’t acknowledge both its strengths and weaknesses is a sick one.”
She further advised couples to stop measuring love by material gifts or extravagant displays. “A lot of times, we say, ‘Look, this woman is happy because they’ve bought her a Cherokee.’ No. Don’t do that to yourself,” she warned. “Because you are two imperfect human beings, there will always be issues. There will always be challenges unless you are God Himself, who is a perfect God.”
Acknowledging the reality that many couples ‘bottle up’ their feelings to maintain an illusion of harmony, Prophetess Kevi encouraged open communication and sincerity in relationships.
As the world celebrates Valentine’s Day with chocolates, flowers, and romantic gestures, her message stands as a comforting truth—love isn’t about perfection. It’s about embracing the imperfections, working through challenges, and nurturing a relationship that is real, honest, and healthy.
