The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested a man identified as Francis Alidu for his alleged involvement in the unlawful possession of controlled narcotic drugs, contrary to Section 37(1) of the Narcotics Control Commission Act, 2020 (Act 1019).
According to a police statement signed by ASP Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs at the Tema Regional Police Command, the arrest followed a coordinated operation between the Ashaiman District Police Command and the Ho Police Command.
The report indicated that on Friday, October 31, 2025, at about 9:10 p.m., officers received intelligence from the Ho Police that a commercial bus driver had been arrested with compressed substances suspected to be Indian hemp. Further intelligence revealed that the intended receiver was based in Ashaiman.

Police subsequently tracked and arrested the receiver, Francis Alidu, at his hideout in Ashaiman. During interrogation, the suspect received a call from another commercial driver informing him that a sack of cassava, which contained the suspected narcotic substances, had been dropped off in front of the KFC branch at Ashaiman for collection.
Officers quickly moved to the scene and retrieved the sack. A search conducted in the presence of the suspect uncovered eighteen (18) compressed slabs of substances believed to be Indian hemp, concealed among the cassava.
The suspect is currently assisting police investigations to identify and apprehend other individuals believed to be connected to the case. He will be handed over to the Ho Regional Police Command for further investigation.
