Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his address to Ghana’s Parliament on Thursday, described India as a “pillar of strength for the world,” emphasizing that a stronger India contributes to global stability and prosperity.

Highlighting India’s rapid economic growth, Modi noted that it is now the fastest-growing emerging economy and a global hub for innovation and technology. “India is where global companies want to converge,” he said.

Modi expressed deep appreciation to the people of Ghana for honoring him with the country’s national award, calling it a moment of great humility. “It is a privilege to be in Ghana, a land that radiates the spirit of democracy,” he said, thanking President John Mahama for the gesture.

He praised Ghana’s warmth and resilience, saying, “This is truly the land of gold—not only for what lies beneath the soil, but for the strength and kindness in the hearts of its people.”

Paying tribute to Ghana’s founding father, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Modi recalled his words: “The forces that unite us are greater than the superimposed influences that keep us apart,” noting their continued relevance in global cooperation.

Speaking on India’s democratic legacy, Modi described his country as the “mother of democracy,” with over 2,500 political parties, 22 official languages, and thousands of dialects. “For us, democracy is not just a system, it’s a way of life,” he said.

Modi concluded by reaffirming India’s commitment to global progress, stating, “As the world’s largest democracy, we will remain a pillar of strength and a force for good.”
