Dr. Adutwum, who served as Education Minister from 2021 to 2024, reaffirmed the policy’s impact in ensuring that more students complete their secondary education without financial constraints

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has launched a public survey to gather feedback on the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy and the Double Track System, aiming to assess their impact and address challenges facing students, parents, and teachers.

The survey seeks to evaluate public awareness of these policies, measure their effectiveness, and identify areas for improvement.

The Free SHS policy was introduced by the Akufo-Addo government to remove financial barriers to secondary education.

Its implementation drew a lot of criticism from stakeholders in education although it increased the number of enrolment.

As of the time the previous government was exiting office, 3.5 million schoolchildren had benefitted from it.
