After leaving an indelible mark on last year’s audience with its emotional depth, raw storytelling, and stunning design, ‘In the Chest of a Woman’ is back, promising an even more compelling and immersive production.

Written by the late Efo Kodjo Mawugbe and directed by Ken Fiati, the play is a bold exploration of gender, power, and identity.

It challenges societal norms while honoring the strength and resilience of women.

As part of the International Women’s Day celebrations, ‘In the Chest of a Woman’ pays tribute to the invaluable contributions women make to society, making it a timely and thought-provoking piece.

This year’s performance will delve into themes of leadership, legacy, and equality, offering a profound reflection on the roles women play in shaping the world.

Special guests for this year’s event include Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Ghana’s first female Vice President, and Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture & Creative Arts, who will serve as distinguished Guests of Honour.

AAN founder Kofi Adinkra expressed excitement for the upcoming production: “The response we received last year was overwhelming. We are committed to refining the play further to ensure an even more impactful and unforgettable experience for our audience.”

Building on the success of the previous year, the 2025 production promises to be bigger and bolder, with a refreshed creative direction and enhanced performance elements.

A stunning blend of intricate set designs, a captivating musical score, and a stellar cast that includes Clemento Suarez, Jeneral Ntatia, Gadede Segbefia, Bill Asamoah, Edinam Atatsi, and many more talented performers await the audience.

‘In the Chest of a Woman’ is not just a play; it’s a celebration of African artistry, storytelling, and culture.

AAN says it continues to amplify African voices, offering compelling narratives that leave a lasting cultural impact.
