Acting MD of ECG, Julius Kpekpena

Mr Julius Kpekpena has been appointed as the new acting Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), stepping into the role vacated by Ing. David Asamoah.

Mr Kpekpena, who previously served as ECG’s Director of Engineering, brings a wealth of experience to the position, having also worked with the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA). His appointment comes at a time when ECG is facing significant operational challenges, including maintaining a stable power supply amid ongoing privatisation talks.

Mr David Asamoah, who has served as ECG’s Acting Managing Director since September 26, 2024, following the resignation of Samuel Dubik Mahama, has navigated a turbulent period for the company.

Before taking on the role, Asamoah was the Deputy Managing Director responsible for Commercial Services at ECG.

Mr Kpekpena now faces the daunting task of steering the company through this critical phase and addressing the pressing issues at hand.
