Newly appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has fully disclosed his residential status following questions raised by Parliament’s Appointments Committee about his tenancy at Airport Hills in Accra.

In a proactive move, Ablakwa requested Finali Limited, his landlord, to confirm the terms of his lease agreement at Plot No. 565, No. 1 Wilshire Boulevard. This request came after the Appointments Committee sought clarity on the Minister’s occupancy details and property ownership.

In a letter dated February 3, 2025, Ablakwa explained that his decision to make the disclosure was rooted in his personal commitment to accountability, despite objections from the committee’s chairman. In response, Finali Limited issued a letter to the Committee, confirming the details of the tenancy.

The documents provided by Finali Limited show that Ablakwa entered into a tenancy agreement with Husni Altheebeh in March 2017, which was followed by a renewal agreement in March 2022. The landlord also provided the land title certificate issued in December 2017, confirming the legal standing of the property.

Ablakwa’s openness comes amidst growing public and parliamentary interest in the transparency of government officials, as the Foreign Minister continues to emphasize his dedication to integrity in public office.

Finali Limited confirmed that the tenancy is still valid and that all relevant legal and consent documents have been duly completed. This step in clarifying his residential status adds another layer of transparency to his leadership, as the Minister calls for greater accountability from public officials.
