A new opinion survey suggests that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is poised to retain the Ayawaso East parliamentary seat in the March 2026 by-election, with its leading contenders projected to defeat the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate in head-to-head matchups.

The poll, conducted by Global InfoAnalytics and released Thursday by its executive director, Mussa Dankwah, indicates that Hajia Amina Adams , widow of the late member of Parliament, commands overwhelming support. In a hypothetical contest against the NPP’s Baba Ali, Hajia Adams secures 73 percent of voter backing. Baba Jamal, another prominent NDC aspirant, also holds a decisive edge, polling 67 percent to Ali’s 33 percent.

Beyond the general election scenarios, the survey also measured preferences within the NDC ahead of its parliamentary primary. Adams emerges as the clear front-runner, attracting 58 percent of respondents. Jamal follows with 32 percent, while other aspirants trail far behind: Muhammed Ramne at 5 percent, Dr. Yakubu Azindow at 3 percent, and Najib Muhammed Sani at 2 percent.

The findings suggest that the NDC enters the by-election season with a commanding advantage in Ayawaso East, both in its internal contest and in its prospects against the opposition.
