At the invitation of his Zambian counterpart, President Hakainde Hichilema, President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Lusaka for a three-day state visit.
He was received at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport by President Hichilema, alongside Ghana’s High Commissioner to Zambia, Madam Elizabeth Nyantakyi.
The state visit is aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties between Ghana and Zambia, with President Mahama scheduled to engage in bilateral discussions with President Hichilema on shared priorities.
The talks will explore avenues for enhanced trade and investment cooperation, as well as collaboration within the African Continental Free Trade Area. The programme also includes a wreath-laying ceremony at Embassy Park and an address to the National Assembly of Zambia.
The President is also scheduled to engage with the Ghanaian community in Lusaka.
One of the key highlights of the visit will be the Ghana–Zambia Business Dialogue, co-chaired by Presidents Mahama and Hichilema, which will showcase Ghana’s digital and fintech capabilities to Zambian businesses and public institutions.
President Mahama’s visit underscores his commitment to promoting a more connected Africa through improved transport systems, stronger trade links, and the free movement of people and goods.
Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations Stan Xoese Dogbe, Presidential Advisor Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Executive Secretary to the President Dr. Callistus Mahama, and Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa are among the high-ranking government officials who accompany him.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of Government Communications; Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Education; Samuel Nartey George, Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations; and Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, are among the other members of the President’s delegation.
