Minority Leader Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin has reiterated the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) position as the best choice for Ghana’s development, while also outlining the Minority’s approach to opposition and governance.

Addressing supporters, Hon. Afenyo-Markin described the NPP as more than just a political alternative, insisting it remains the country’s most reliable path forward.
“The New Patriotic Party is not just a political option; it is the singular solution Ghana requires,” he stated.

The Minority Leader also raised concerns over the continued absence of substantive leadership at the Ministries of Defence and Environment, following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of the sector ministers months ago.

According to him, the delay in appointing replacements is unacceptable and risks weakening governance and national security.
“It has been months since the helicopter crash that took the lives of our Defence and Environment Ministers. We demand that the President appoint new ministers for these two ministries immediately,” he said.

Hon. Afenyo-Markin further emphasised that the Minority’s role in Parliament would remain principled and constructive, rejecting claims that opposition activities are intended to undermine government efforts.
“The Minority will be firm but fair; opposition is not sabotage,” he stressed.

His remarks come amid heightened political debate, as Parliament continues to scrutinise government actions and press for accountability across key sectors.
