Dwumfour, Kwame Despite, Speaker Bagbin Make Avance Media’s 2025 Top 100 Powerlist

Leading figures including the President of the Ghana Journalists Association, Albert Dwumfour, CEO of the Despite Group of Companies, Osei Kwame Despite and Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin have been featured on Avance Media’s inaugural Top 100 Ghanaians Powerlist 2025, which recognises individuals whose influence has shaped Ghana’s political, economic, social and cultural space over the past year.

Albert Dwumfour was recognised for his leadership in reshaping the media landscape and strengthening the GJA into a dominant professional association in Ghana. His tenure has been marked by renewed relevance, visibility and advocacy for journalists.

The Powerlist, compiled by African PR and rating firm Avance Media, spans 10 categories covering governance, business, media, civil society, culture, religion, sports, traditional leadership and national security.

Also featured are key national leaders such as President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, and business mogul Osei Kwame Despite, Founder and Chairman of the Despite Group of Companies.

According to Avance Media Founder and Managing Director, Prince Akpah, the list goes beyond titles to assess real influence, impact and relevance. He said the Powerlist is intended to spark national reflection on leadership and accountability while documenting how power is exercised in Ghana.

The 2025 edition includes 28 women and highlights influential figures across media, entertainment, religion, sports and traditional leadership. The full list is published on Avance Media’s official website.
