President John Dramani Mahama says Ghana’s Reset Agenda is restoring public trust in the country’s democratic system while strengthening accountability and governance.
In a New Year’s message on Jan. 1, 2026, Mahama said the initiative marks a fundamental shift in how Ghana approaches governance at home and abroad.
According to the president, the Reset Agenda has already produced results, including a leaner public administration, improved accountability in government and a stronger fight against corruption. He said the reforms have helped rebuild confidence in Ghana’s democratic institutions after years of decline.
Mahama also pointed to the international impact of the Reset Agenda. He said Ghana’s image in the global community has improved and noted that he presented the Accra Reset Initiative at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The initiative, he said, is designed to transform global governance by addressing inequalities in the current system and creating more opportunities for Africa and other countries in the Global South.
Mahama said Ghana is working with other leaders to push for reforms that respond to today’s interconnected challenges.
“This is our moment. This is Ghana’s moment to lead,” he said, pledging to position the country as a voice for reform, fairness and democratic renewal on the world stage.
