Kasoa is Brighter and Safer This Christmas, Says MP

Kasoa’s strategic location along the Accra–Cape Coast highway has fueled rapid urbanization and commercial growth, but it has also drawn criminal networks. In December 2025, the Cyber Security Authority and National Security arrested 32 suspects in Kasoa–Tuba for operating a cyber fraud ring targeting victims abroad. Around the same time, the Central East Regional Police Command arrested 33 suspects in anti-crime sweeps, seizing drugs, motorbikes, and other contraband.

The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Phyllis Naa Koryor Okunor, has outlined plans to bolster security in Kasoa this Christmas. In an exclusive interview with Bullet TV’s Michael Addo, Ms. Okunor said she was pursuing measures to prioritize security within her constituency, a move she believes will ensure the safety of residents and visitors alike.

“We are looking at security. Making sure everyone who comes in and out of Kasoa is safe,” she said.

The lawmaker pointed to recent efforts to improve basic infrastructure as part of her security agenda. She noted that her office had donated 2,500 streetlights in the past three weeks, which are now being installed across the constituency.

“The first thing we have done is to ensure that Kasoa is being lit up. We’ve donated about 2,500 streetlights… now when you come to Kasoa in the evening, Kasoa is brightening,” she added.

Ms. Okunor also emphasized collaboration with state security agencies, particularly during the festive season, when Kasoa’s bustling markets and transport corridors attract large crowds.

“The security services also have a plan enforced during this Christmas to station their people within certain vantage areas to make sure the security system in the constituency is also good,” she said.
