A High Court in Koforidua on Thursday dismissed an election petition challenging the victory of New Patriotic Party lawmaker Frank Asiedu Bekoe in the 2024 parliamentary race for Suhum.

Justice George Krofa Addae ruled that the petition filed by independent candidate Kwadjo Asante lacked merit. The court said Asante’s witnesses failed to provide evidence to support his claims and noted that none had served as his polling agents during the election.

The court also found no proof that Kwadjo Asante’s supporters were prevented from voting. It added that all of the petitioner’s agents at the 166 polling stations signed the official results sheets without objection.

The case was dismissed, and the court ordered Asante to pay costs of 200,000 Ghana cedis.
