The Manhyia Palace has issued a firm statement distancing itself from the funeral arrangements of the late Ghanaian highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
In the statement, the Palace dismissed widespread reports claiming that members of Daddy Lumba’s family had been summoned before the Asantehene to discuss funeral plans, describing such reports as false and misleading. It stressed that the Palace has not been involved at any stage of the funeral planning process.
According to the Palace, its only prior involvement was limited to addressing the invocation of the Great Oath of Otumfuo, an intervention aimed solely at fostering unity amid divisions within the family. Beyond this, it said it has played no role in funeral preparations.
As a result of the ongoing dispute, the Nananom of the Gyaase Division have formally withdrawn from all activities related to the funeral. The Palace further emphasized its neutral stance, stating clearly that it does not support any faction involved in the family disagreement.
Manhyia Palace has therefore urged the general public to disregard any information linking it to the burial or funeral arrangements of Daddy Lumba, reiterating that it remains uninvolved in all related matters.
