Elsie Addo Awadzi, the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), has confirmed that she will retire from the Central Bank on February 28, 2025.

The news was officially confirmed in a statement issued by the Presidency on Friday, February 7, 2025.

President John Dramani Mahama has accepted Awadzi’s decision to retire early and expressed his appreciation for her exemplary service to both the Bank of Ghana and the nation.

In the statement, the President praised Awadzi’s significant contributions to Ghana’s financial sector, particularly in areas of monetary policy, financial stability, and economic governance.

He extended his best wishes to her for the future, thanking her for her distinguished service.

“Mrs. Elsie Addo Awadzi’s work has been vital in shaping the country’s economic landscape, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours,” the statement read.
