Nigerian musician 2Face Idibia caused a stir on Monday when he made a surprise visit to the Edo State House of Assembly during a plenary session, drawing attention and creating a brief disruption.
The singer, best known for his hit song African Queen, was seated in the gallery when lawmakers had not yet begun their proceedings, leading to commotion within the assembly.
Order was quickly restored by authorities, and the session continued as planned.
2Face’s visit has fueled rumours about his alleged relationship with Natasha Osawaru, the Deputy Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly.
However, Osawaru has denied the claims.
A spokesperson for the lawmaker, Eseosa Okundia, dismissed the allegations as “false and baseless,” calling them “fallacy at its peak.”
The rumours gained traction after 2Face was seen leaving a nightclub with a woman believed to be Osawaru, just days after announcing his separation from his wife, Annie Idibia (née Macaulay).
The 49-year-old singer revealed last month that he and Annie had been living apart for some time and were in the process of filing for divorce.
He added that he would soon release a statement to address the situation, saying that while his personal life is private, he felt it necessary to clarify the circumstances for his supporters.
