Two individuals lost their lives in a fatal accident at the Opoku Transport intersection on the Tech-Oforikrom stretch of the Kumasi-Accra highway. The incident, which occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, involved a collision between a Ford Transit “trotro” bus and an OA-branded commercial vehicle.
The driver and conductor of the “trotro” were killed on impact, while several passengers aboard the OA bus sustained injuries. Eyewitnesses reported that the “trotro” driver was speeding when he lost control and collided with the side of the bus while attempting to navigate a curve.
Authorities have pointed to malfunctioning traffic lights at the intersection as a contributing factor to the crash. Emergency responders were quick to arrive at the scene, managing to clear the road after a brief traffic hold-up.
